Visas for Applicants Under 14 and over 79 Years of Age

Overview

The following applicants may qualify for Interview Waiver service and may not require an appointment and personal appearance at the U.S. Embassy

  •  Non-immigrant visa applicants of any nationality who are under the age of 14 or over 79 years of age, who is:
    • either a citizen of Singapore, or a permanent resident of Singapore, in possession of a valid
      re-entry permit., or
    • holding either:
    • Long Term Pass (child of Singapore citizen, or a permanent resident of Singapore),
    • Dependent Pass (child of an employment pass holder),or
    • Student Pass

Notes for Children’s Applications
All visa applicants under the age of 14 must be physically present in Singapore at the time of application. 

To qualify for Interview Waiver service, the child must reside in Singapore, and both parents must already have valid U.S. visas.

**Special note for parents applying with children under the age of 14:  If at least one parent (or relative) is applying for a visa, along with a child under the age of 14, the child’s appearance at the parent’s (or relative’s) visa interview may be waived, but Interview Waiver service should not be utilized for the child’s application.

How to Apply

Step 1

Pay the visa application fee associated with your visa. This webpage lists all visa fees associated with the most common nonimmigrant visa types.

Please note: If reciprocity feesare required, please do not pay the fee until you are notified by the Embassy.  You will be contacted when your visa is approved.

Step 2

Complete the Nonimmigrant Visa Electronic Application (DS-160) form. After completing the form, print and save your confirmation page.

Step 3

Register an account on this webpage.  Please answer the qualifications questions carefully.

If you qualify for Interview Waiver submission, you will receive Interview Waiver submission letter containing a document checklist.  Print two copies of the Drop-Box submission letter.  Drop off your passport along with the listed documents mentioned on the submission letter at one the two Aramex courier locations.  Please remember to include:

  • The applicant’s current passport
  • One copy of the Interview Waiver letter
  • One photograph taken within the last six months (conforming to the guidelines here[http://www.ustraveldocs.com/sg/sg-niv-photoinfo.asp]). In the vast majority of cases, YOU MAY NOT SUBMIT THE SAME PHOTOGRAPH THAT APPEARED ON YOUR LAST VISA. Failure to submit a valid photograph will delay the processing of your case.
  • Supporting documentation required for your visa type (for information on the supporting documents required for your visa type, please review the requirements for your visa type on http://www.ustraveldocs.com/sg/sg-niv-visatypeinfo.asp);
  • Children applying through the Interview Waiver should submit photocopies of their parents’ visas, along with a copy of the child’s birth certificate.

Step 4

Deliver your documents for Interview Waiver service at one of the two Aramex courier locations. 

Step 5

If additional information is needed in order to finish processing your case, you will be informed by email. If your application is approved, your passport and visa will be made available for pickup or delivered to the location you specified when you filed your application.  Details on passport pickup and delivery options are available on this webpage.
