Student/Exchange Visitor Program
Overview
Representatives of student and/or work programs, or educational institutions are encouraged to contact the Embassy to set up group appointments at the following email address: singaporecon@state.gov. At that time they should also request a Student/Exchange Visitors Program Logon, which will facilitate the group application process. Representatives should be prepared to discuss estimate number of applicants and proposed interview dates. Embassy staff will contact you shortly thereafter via email with additional details.
How to apply for a Student/Exchange Visitor Appointment
(follow this procedure after you receive your log on code)
Step 1
Pay the MRV application fee. (Payment help and fee information.)
Step 2
Complete the Nonimmigrant Visa Electronic Application (DS-160) form.
Note: It will take 4 hours from the time of purchase for your MRV fee receipt to be processed. Then you may proceed to step 3.
Step 3
No less than 4 hours after you pay your MRV application fee, you can return to this website to schedule your appointment. You will need three pieces of information in order to schedule your appointment:
- Your passport number
- Your MRV fee payment receipt number
- The ten (10) digit barcode number from your DS-160 confirmation page
Student visa interview waiver program
Some applicants may be eligible to apply or renew their student visa without appearing for an in-person interview. You will automatically be guided to answer questions about your eligibility for the interview waiver program when you apply for a student visa, either as first time applicant or as a renewal.
To qualify, you must meet all of the requirements below:
- Same SEVIS number as your original I-20/DS-2019; or
- Been issued new I-20/DS-2019 with new SEVIS number and paid a new SEVIS fee
- Have travelled to US before either on prior visa or ESTA approval – submit copy of prior visa and entry stamp on passport.
In addition to these SEVIS requirements, applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Studying at the same school and same major listed on your original and existing I-20 forms ; or
- Studying at the same school listed on the original I-20, even if in a different major; or
- Studying in the same major listed on your original I-20, even if at a different school;
