Schedule My Appointment

On May 1, 2022, the U.S. Embassy Singapore will implement a separate appointment channel for visa applicants who are not resident in Singapore.  Non-resident visa applicants, such as those on Singapore’s short-term visit pass, must identify themselves as non-resident when scheduling their visa appointments.  Appointments will be available to non-residents for all nonimmigrant visa categories, including work, student, crew, and tourist/business.

Singapore citizens and Third Country Nationals who have valid residency permits for Singapore should schedule their appointments as “residents”.  Residents include Permanent Residents (PR), Employment Pass (EP) holders, Work Permit holders, Student Pass (STP) holders, S Pass holders, Dependent Pass (DP) holders, and Long-Term Visit pass (LTVP) holders.

Non-resident Third Country National applicants who pay the visa application fee on or after May 1, 2022, must use this new appointment channel.  If you schedule your appointment in the incorrect category, you will be required to reschedule.  Failure to schedule in the correct appointment category could result in significant travel delays.

In short, if you pay the application fee on or after May 1, 2022, you must schedule a visa appointment in the correct category or you will be asked to reschedule.  We are unable to authorize a refund of the MRV fee.

Important Note: Most Singaporeans traveling to the United States on business or tourism for less than 90 days do not require a visa and can travel under the Visa Waiver Program (VWP). If you do not qualify for the Visa Waiver Program or are traveling to study, work, or participate in an exchange program, you will need to apply for a nonimmigrant visa.

Applicants for U.S. visas are required to appear in person for a visa interview at the U.S. Embassy or Consulate where they reside. Applicants must schedule an appointment for that interview, either online or through the call center.

In order to schedule a nonimmigrant visa appointment, you must have the following information and documents available:

  • A passport valid for travel to the United States with a validity date at least six months beyond the applicant's intended period of stay in the United States (unless country-specific agreements provide exemptions). If more than one person is included in the passport, each person desiring a visa must submit an application.
  • VFS Global payment receipt
  • DS-160 confirmation page
  • E-mail address
  • If applicable, required documents based on visa class (such as a petition approval for petition-based visas; see detailed lists in the information provided on this website about visa classes).

At present, only airline crew members can have their visas renewed without an interview. More info here.

If you are under 14 or over 79 years of age of any nationality, applying for non-immigrant visa, you may not require an appointment and personal appearance at the U.S. Embassy and may qualify for Interview Waiver service.  For more information, please click here.

Applying for Student(F/M) / Exchange visa (J) visa? Have you paid the SEVIS fee?

The SEVIS fee is in addition to the visa application fee for students and exchange visitors. More information here

You will present evidence of the SEVIS fee payment before attending the visa interview. To avoid any inconveniences, please make the SEVIS payment prior to scheduling a visa appointment.

Please proceed to pay the fee if you have not paid yet at https://www.fmjfee.com/i901fee/index.html by completing the online Form I-901 and pay via credit card.

Restrictions to Changing Appointments

Applicants are limited to the number of times they can reschedule their appointments. Please plan accordingly so that you are not required to make another visa application fee.
