Immigration Visa Application System

On this page:

Overview

The National Visa Center (NVC) schedules all immigrant visa appointments, with the exception of K visas and certain immigrant visa applications processed at the U.S. Embassy in Singapore.  Once the NVC finishes processing a case, the NVC will schedule an appointment.  As soon as an appointment is scheduled, the NVC will forward the case to the U.S. Embassy. The NVC will also send the petitioner and/or the authorized agent an interview appointment letter.  K visa applicants, applicants whose appointments are not scheduled by the NVC, and applicants who missed their appointments scheduled by NVC can schedule their interview appointments per the instructions through this website. These applicants should not schedule their appointments until after they have received an "Immigrant Visa Instructions" email from the U.S. Embassy, as you will not be able to access the schedule function through this website.
Please note that some visa categories are subject to numerical limitations. NVC will not schedule any cases that their priority dates are not current. Please refer to the Visa Bulletin for more information on visa availability

The visa appointment system is intended for eligible applicants who:

  • 1. have not yet been interviewed, or
  • 2. who were not able to attend their interview on their original appointment dates, or
  • 3. received notification that they must schedule an appointment online.

Schedule My Appointment

To schedule an appointment for immigrant visas (only after you have received the "Immigrant Visa Instructions" email from the U.S. Embassy), please visit this page.

Applicants who have previously registered for a non-immigrant visa or prior immigrant visa application should ensure that their contact information, passport number, and document pick-up location are up-to-date. In addition, visa type should be listed as “Immigrant Visa.” Failure to register or to update your contact information and document pick-up location prior to your visa interview will result in serious delays processing and delivering your paperwork and/or visa. If you encounter problems during the registration process, please email to: support-singapore@ustraveldocs.com . You will be informed by email when your passport and visa packet are ready for pick-up / delivery.

What to expect at the interview

Information on documents you should bring to the immigrant visa interview is available on the page of the list of civil documents.  Please be truthful during the interview. Misleading or untruthful statements could result in a refusal and even permanent visa ineligibility. If you choose to present documents during your interview, make sure that they are truthful and legitimate.

All immigrant visa applicants, including children, must appear at the U.S. Embassy for an interview. On your interview date, you must appear at the U.S. Embassy no more than 15 minutes before your scheduled appointment time. Applicants coming to the Consular Section of the U.S. Embassy cannot bring large personal electronic devices to the Embassy. Those items include but are not limited to: laptops, iPads, and other tablet devices, or handheld gaming devices.  The Embassy Local Guard Force cannot store laptops and large electronic devices for customers. Please make arrangements to leave large devices elsewhere before arriving at the U.S. Embassy to avoid inconveniences.
