Apply for a Visa

On this page:

Overview

Please confirm whether or not you need to apply for a visa. You may not need to apply for a new U.S. visa if you already hold a valid U.S. visa or are a national of a Visa Waiver Program participating country (Russia does not currently participate in this program).

If you do need to apply for a nonimmigrant visa, please follow the steps below. If you are applying to renew a visa that is currently valid or recently expired, please follow the instructions on this page.

How to Apply

U.S. Embassy Moscow no longer offers non-diplomatic visa services due to the Russian government’s April 23, 2021, notification prohibiting the U.S. Embassy Russia from employing foreign nationals in any capacity. All consular services at the U.S. Consulates in Yekaterinburg and Vladivostok remain in suspended status. Russian nationals may continue applying for non-immigrant visas at any U.S. embassy or consulate where they can obtain an appointment.

Applicants who reside in Russia may also apply at any U.S. embassy or consulate outside of Russia, and must pay the visa application fee (“MRV fee”) in the country where the visa interview takes place. To submit a routine nonimmigrant visa application and schedule an interview at a consular section outside of Russia, please visit www.ustraveldocs.com or ais.usvisa-info.com
