Overview

PLEASE READ AND FOLLOW THE BELOW INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY. FAILURE TO DO SO WILL RESULT IN DELIVERY DELAYS.

While the price for both receiving and submitting documents is the same, the respective payment links are not, and paying via the incorrect link will result in processing delays. Please read the instructions carefully and navigate to the link that correctly corresponds to the desired service. Applicants desiring to both submit AND receive documents to/from the US Embassy must pay for both premium services, using each of the two different links that specifically pertain to these services. To submit documents, please follow the instructions on this page. For any AWB questions, please email us at support-romania@ustraveldocs.com, including the proof of payment.

The information below is strictly referring to receiving your documents after the application was adjudicated. Your documents will be delivered via one of three methods:

 

  1. FedEx Head Office: You may pick up your documents from the FedEx Head Office in Bucharest. This option is free of charge. The FedEx Head Office is located at No. 172-176 Bucuresti-Ploiesti Road, Platinum Business and Convention Center, Building B, Floor 2, District 1, Zip Code 015016, Bucharest. Pickup times are Monday through Friday, 10:00 - 17:00 (closed on holidays).

NOTE: Documents can only be collected starting the next business day after you received the email notification, within the above-mentioned pickup times. The documents will be available for collection at the pickup location for a maximum of 10 business days.

 

  1. Premium FedEx Office: You may pick up your documents from a premium FedEx office in Romania. There is an additional fee of 15.73* USD per applicant for this option, which must be paid through VFS Global at this linkYou must present proof of payment at the time of the interview.
  2. Premium Home and Office Delivery: If you select this option, your documents will be sent to an address within Romania via FedEx courier. There is also an additional fee of 15.73* USD per applicant for this delivery option, which must be paid through VFS Global at this link. You must present proof of payment at the time of the interview.

When making the payment, you must include your UID number in the 'Notes' field of the payment form.

 *(in Lei at the exchange rate of the payer’s bank, applicable on the day of payment)

Note: FedEx couriers will make two attempts with prior notification to deliver the passport to the selected document delivery address. If the courier is unable to deliver the passport due to the applicant’s unavailability or the address does not exist, it will be returned to the U.S. Embassy.

 

Your documents can only be returned to an address in Romania.

Personal pickup of your passport/documents from the U.S. Embassy is not possible.  

Change Delivery Options

You may change your preferred document delivery pick-up locations online or through the call center until 11:59 p.m. the day before your interview appointment. There is no cost to change your pick-up location.

Passport Tracking Options

For your convenience, you have several options to choose from to track the location of your passport.

Instant: Enter your passport number below to check on the status. If your passport is ready for pick-up, please bring supporting documents and collect it in a timely manner. If your passport is not collected in a timely manner it will be sent back to the Embassy or Consulate.

 

 

Email: Send an email to passportstatus@ustraveldocs.com and in the subject and/or body enter a valid passport number exactly as it was entered at the time the appointment was scheduled. Do not include any additional text. You will receive an automatic response with the status.

Supporting Documents

You must present an original government-issued photo identification document to retrieve your passport. You will also need to have your User ID (UID) available (you can find your UID on your appointment confirmation letter).

If someone other than yourself is retrieving your passport, your representative must present:

  • The representative’s own government-issued identification document AND
  • A photocopy of the applicant’s government-issued identification document AND
  • A letter of authority, signed by you, authorizing your representative to collect your passport

The letter of authority must contain the following information:

  • Your representative's full name as shown on their government-issued identification document AND
  • Your name and date of birth

If you are under the age of 18, a parent or guardian must be present for passport pick-up and must show his/her government-issued identification document. They will also need to have a photocopy of your passport. If this is not available, they may bring your birth certificate or government issued identification document.

IMPORTANT: If you chose the premium pickup/home delivery option, your documents will not be released unless and until the premium fee payment is made/confirmed.
