Immigrant and Fiancé Visa Fees

On this page:

Overview

All immigrant visa fees are payable in U.S. dollars or New Zealand dollars based on the U.S. Consular Exchange rate in New Zealand on the day of the applicant's interview. Payments may be made in cash (USD or NZD) or a certified bank cheque. Personal checks are not accepted. A combination of U.S. dollars and New Zealand dollars will not be accepted.

Applicants who have paid their immigrant visa fee to NVC are not required to pay additional fees unless the applicant has paid only a partial amount to NVC. Anyone subject to a balance of IV fees will be informed during his or her visa interview.

All fiancé/e (K1/K2) visa applicants must pay a non-refundable, non-transferable Machine Readable Visa (MRV) application fee via Payment in Person at a New Zealand Post shop offering payment services. This payment option is paid within our online applicant system. You must first register on the applicant site and choose the ‘schedule your appointment’ option to access the payment options.  Before going to a New Zealand Post shop offering payment services, print the applicable U.S. visa fee deposit slip (use a computer and Explorer, Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge browser to access the deposit slip. Select the applicable deposit slip and then print the selected deposit slip immediately). This deposit slip has an expiration date. Take the printed unexpired deposit slip with you to pay your fee.  The New Zealand Post shop will issue you a receipt upon payment.  This receipt cannot be replaced if it is lost.

Please note that for Payment in Person at a New Zealand Post shop, the receipt is not activated immediately. A K visa applicant can only use the receipt for appointment scheduling after the receipt has been activated in our system. For receipt activation timeline, please see here.
