The United States Embassy in Kathmandu, Nepal has expanded visa services. A limited number of immigrant visa appointments are being scheduled, including those for immediate relatives and fiancés of U.S. citizens and Lawful Permanent Residents (LPRs), returning residents, and others as capacity allows. Nonimmigrant visa applications are being processed as follows: F, M, and J categories, petition-based work visas, C1/D appointments for air and sea crewmembers, limited B1/B2 appointments, certain visa categories that can be issued or renewed without an interview, diplomatic and official visas, and other nonimmigrant visas in emergency situations or as capacity allows. While the United States Embassy aims to process cases as soon as practicable, increased wait times for completing such services are likely due to substantial backlogs. The MRV fee is valid and may be used to schedule an interview appointment in the country where it was purchased until September 30, 2023. If you have an urgent matter and need to travel immediately, please follow the guidance provided at https://www.ustraveldocs.com/np/np-niv-expeditedappointment.asp to request an emergency appointment.
