United States Embassy in Vilnius Information
The U.S. Mission to Lithuania understands that many visa applicants have paid the visa application processing fee and are still waiting to schedule a visa appointment. We are working diligently to restore all routine visa operations as quickly and safely as possible. In the meantime, rest assured that the U.S. Mission will extend the validity of your payment (known as the MRV fee) until December 31, 2021, to allow all applicants who were unable to schedule a visa appointment as a result of the suspension of routine consular operations an opportunity to schedule and/or attend a visa appointment with the already paid fee. Please continue to monitor this site for information on when we will return to routine visa operations.
As of July 15, 2020 the United States Embassy in Vilnius, Lithuania is resuming certain non-immigrant visa services, including: travelers with urgent travel needs; students (F, M, and some J), air and sea crew members (C1/D); and some family members of U.S. citizens consistent with Presidential Proclamation 10014. While the Embassy aims to process cases as soon as practicable, there is likely to be increased wait times for completing such services due to substantial backlogs.
NOTE: All visa applicants should bring face masks to be used at all times upon entry to the Embassy and its territory.
RENEWALS - We strongly encourage applicants from the above groups who are renewing previously issued nonimmigrant visas of the same classification that expired less than 24 months ago, to follow the guidance on applying via the mail-in (Interview Waiver) process and NOT schedule a visa interview. See guidance here on ustraveldocs.com.
If you have an urgent matter and need to travel immediately, please follow the guidance at here on ustraveldocs.com or contact the call center at +370 5 2140560 to request an emergency appointment. Applicants for H1B, H2B, H4, L and certain J categories covered by Presidential Proclamation 10052 should request an appointment only if you have reason to believe you may qualify for one of the exceptions listed in the Proclamation.
January 31, 2020
On January 31, 2020, a new Presidential Proclamation (“Presidential Proclamation 9983”) was issued which added to the ongoing travel restrictions of P.P. 9645 by expanding them to the nationals of six additional countries. The restrictions only apply to immigrant visas and/or diversity visas, not nonimmigrant visas. More information is available at this link.
November 5, 2018
Starting on Nov 5, 2018, the U.S. Embassy Consular Section will offer an interview waiver process to selected Lithuanians. Read more about it at: http://ustraveldocs.com/lt/lt-svc-iwoprogram.asp.
