Q: Do children need a visa?
A: All travelers, including children, need a visa to travel to the United States or must qualify to travel without a visa through a special program, such as the Visa Waiver Program.
Q: Do children pay the same application fee as adults?
A: Yes, they do.
Q: Do children need to schedule an interview appointment?
A: Every applicant requires an appointment.
Q: Do all children have to come in person for their appointment?
A: Applicants should, in almost all cases, come alone to their interviews. Children who are between the ages of 14 and 18 must come to the interview and may bring a parent with them. Children who are under 14 years of age and are Lebanese or have legal permission to reside in Lebanon do not need to come to the interview. In this case, either one of the parents may apply for the visa on behalf of the child. Applicants with serious medical problems may also to choose to bring an escort with them.
Children who do not have permission to reside in Lebanon must come in person for their appointment.
Q: Do applicants who are 80 and above need to come in person for an interview?
If you are over age 80 and are a Lebanese national or legal resident, you do not need to come to an interview at the Embassy. Like all applicants, you must have a valid passport, a photo taken within the past 6 months, and a completed DS-160 application. After answering the Interview Waiver questions, you may gather your documents and drop them off at the SLS Embassy Services locations.
Applicant over age 80 who do not have permission to reside in Lebanon must come in person for their appointment.
