Re-Schedule My Immigrant Visa Appointment

IMPORTANT NOTICE: For some family-based and employment preference visa categories, applicants are advised to carefully consult the Visa Bulletin before rescheduling the interview because there is no guarantee that a visa is available on the date of the rescheduled interview.


Overview

This page is for all eligible immigrant visa applicants (not including K-1s) to reschedule their immigrant visa interview appointment if they have missed their original appointment. If you want to reschedule a K-1 visa interview appointment, please visit Fiancé(e) Visas (K1 & K2).

Who is eligible to reschedule an immigrant visa appointment?

You may only schedule a new visa interview appointment if you fall into one of the following categories:

  • Embassy Vientiane cancelled my original IV appointment due to COVID-19 and now I am rescheduling my appointment.
  • I failed to attend my original appointment and now I need to reschedule my original appointment.
  • I am a follow-to-join IV applicant.  The principal applicant has already applied for or been issued an IV, and the IV Unit at the U.S. Embassy in Laos has asked me to make an IV appointment

If you meet any of the following conditions below, do not reschedule an immigrant visa interview appointment.  Instead, please submit an inquiry to: conslao@state.gov

  • You have been interviewed.
  • You are the principal applicant and you have not contacted the Consulate for more than a year.
  • Your case is not current for processing based on the current cut-off dates. This includes retrogressed cases and cases whose visa classes have been changed.
  • Your visa class has been changed.

Reschedule My Immigrant Visa Appointment

Please follow the Step-by-Step instructions below:

Step 1 – Create an account here If you already have your own account, please move to Step 2.

Step 2 – Log in to your account

Step 3 – After logging in, you will be taken to a Dashboard, please look at the left of the Dashboard, click on “New Application / Schedule Appointment”, and follow the instructions below:

  • Choose “Immigrant Visa”, then click “Continue”.
  • Choose “Immigrant Visas - rescheduling an initial interview”, then click “Continue”.
  • Select your visa class, then click “Continue”.
  • Fill in all the required fields,then click “Continue”.
  • If there other Traveling Applicants listed in the Packet 4 Appointment Letter you received from the U.S. Embassy, you will be able to add them as dependents. then click “Continue”.
  • Answer the questions as “Yes or “No” to continue
  • Fill in your Case ID number, then click Continue
  • Choose your preferred date and time from the calendar, then click “Schedule Appointment”. If there are currently no appointments available, please go back to the scheduling system at a later time. Our office typically schedules additional appointment slots on a rolling basis depending on the demand for appointments. Therefore, we recommend you check the appointment system periodically for availability.
  • Click on “Printable Version” and print out the Appointment Confirmation Page.

 Notes:

  • If you have never had an interview appointment on http://www.ustraveldocs.com/la, you will need to choose the option “New Application/Schedule Appointment” on the left column of the screen in order to reschedule, after logging in to your account.
  • If you already had an interview appointment on http://www.ustraveldocs.com/la and want to reschedule your appointment again, you just need to log into your account, then choose “Reschedule Immigrant Visa Appointment”. Please note that the closing time for appointments is 11:00 a.m. the previous working day before the interview date..  If you cannot attend the rescheduled appointment, please cancel or reschedule your appointment at least three working days prior to your appointment date.  Otherwise, you will need to wait until the appointment date has passed to reschedule a new one.
