Overview
In most cases, each visa applicant, including children, is required to pay a non-refundable, non-transferable Machine Readable Visa (MRV) application fee, whether a visa is issued or not. The visa application fee is determined by the type of visa for which you wish to apply.
Remember, the MRV fee is a non-refundable and non-transferable. Please confirm whether or not you need to apply for a visa. You may not need to apply for a new U.S. visa if you already hold a valid U.S. visa or are a national of a Visa Waiver Program participating country.
Certain individuals may not need a visa, or may be exempt from the fee, for example:
- If you are applying for an A or G visa for official travel, you do not need to pay the MRV fee
- If you are applying for a J visa to participate in a U.S. Government-sponsored program, you do not need to pay the MRV fee. J visa applicants and their dependents, if participating in a Department of State, a U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), or a federally funded educational and cultural exchange program which has a program serial number beginning with G-1, G-2, G-3, or G-7 printed on Form DS-2019 (NOTE: Neither application fee nor SEVIS fee payments are required)
- If you are a citizen of Canada or Bermuda (but not applying for an A, E, G, K or V visa category), you may not need a visa
If you do need to pay the fee, please follow the instructions below for paying your visa application fee. Applicants must successfully complete a payment before they are permitted to schedule their interview appointment. Applicants who do not pay the correct fee for their visa type may be restricted from scheduling an interview. For more information about fee exemptions, please visit this page.
Remember: Once the initial interview is scheduled, applicants are limited to the number of times they can reschedule their appointments. If you reschedule your appointment more than six times or fail to attend your appointment, you will be required to pay another visa application fee. Please plan accordingly, so that you are not required to pay an additional visa application fee. Visa application fees are non-refundable.

- Depending on the browser you are using or the internet speed, it may take time to confirm your payment. Please be patient.
- At step 3 of the Payment Confirmation Page after you choose a payment option, please do not click the “決済 Payment” button more than once. If you click more than once, it may mean that you are making more than 1 payment for your visa fee.
- You should NEVER USE the “Back”, “Next” or “Refresh” and “x”(closed) button on your browser during a payment process that is located at location bar at the top of your computer screen at all times, including time out.
- If you wish to cancel the transaction, please ONLY USE the “cancel” button located at the bottom of the page.
- If you have cancelled the transaction via the “Cancel” button as per our instruction above, we strongly recommend that you confirm the first payment by checking with your credit card company on the status of payment before you login to continue with the payment process. Your first payment may have gone through even though there is failure in loading the transaction page on your browser, and you therefore will not need to make another payment. All visa fees paid are a non-refundable and non-transferable .
- Please do not save the payment page as a favorite.
- Once your screen times out, we strongly advise that you do not click onto any other button except for the “cancel” button located at the bottom of the page.
- When your payment is successful, a receipt number will be displayed. Now you will need to login to your profile with the same credentials you used to pay your visa fee. Once you are in the system, you will see your dashboard. Click on Schedule Appointment on the left-hand side menu.
- During the payment process via credit card, three payment information numbers (Financial Institution Code, Customer Number, and Confirmation Number) will be generated by the system. This indicates that your transaction has been completed successfully each time. Each payment information will be only issued by a single payment process on your browser. If a receipt number is not displayed due to failure in loading the transaction page, DO NOT attempt to make the payment again as your first payment may have already been successfully completed.
- If you experience difficulties during the payment process such as failure in loading the transaction page, the receipt number will not be displayed. When this occurs, please contact us (In Japan: 050-5533-2737;In the United States: +1-703-520-2233) immediately in order that we confirm/provide you with the receipt number.
