The U.S. Department of State has increased certain nonimmigrant visa (NIV) application processing fees. These fee increases are effective June 17, 2023

  • The application fee for visitor visas for business or tourism (B1/B2s), and other non-petition based NIVs, such as student and exchange visitor visas, has increased from $160 to $185.
  • The application fee for certain petition-based nonimmigrant visas for temporary workers (H, L, O, P, Q, and R categories) has increased from $190 to $205.
  • The application fee for a treaty trader, treaty investor, and treaty applicant in a specialty occupation (E category) has increased from $205 to $315.

As of January 28, the United States Embassy in Jakarta and Consulate General Surabaya have resumed services for all nonimmigrant visa categories at reduced capacity. In addition, the U.S. Embassy in Jakarta continues to process immigrant visas for spouses, children, and fiancés of U.S. citizens, plus returning residents (IR1/IR2, CR1/CR2, K-1, and SB-1). While we aim to process cases as soon as practicable, there are likely to be increased wait times for completing such services due to substantial backlogs. In light of COVID-19, the U.S. Embassy and Consulate General in Surabaya have implemented social distancing protocols. Please arrive only at your exact appointment time – do not arrive early. Practice social distancing and do not stand closely to other applicants who are not members of your immediate family or traveling party. All visitors to the U.S. Embassy or Consulate General must wear a cloth face covering or mask and observe social distancing protocols as established by the Embassy or Consulate General staff. Follow the directions of the U.S. Embassy/Consulate General greeters and guards. If you are experiencing flu-like symptoms or believe you may have been exposed to the novel coronavirus, postpone your appointment by at least 14 days.

Please note that, effective August 26, 2019, there is an additional $220 reciprocity fee for approved F1/F2 student visas. This issuance fee will apply to Indonesian citizens, and is to be paid at the Embassy or Consulate Cashier after the consular officer has approved the F1/F2 student visa. Please see this page for more information https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/Visa-Reciprocity-and-Civil-Documents-by-Country/Indonesia.html. In addition, as of October 12, 2020, applicants who wish to renew a B1/B2, C1/D, or J visa that expired less than 48 months ago may qualify to renew their visa without an interview through the procedures explained here: https://ustraveldocs.com/id/id-niv-visarenew.asp. If qualified, applicants only need to drop the required documents at an RPX Document Drop-off Location, and do not need to come to the Embassy or Consulate General in person.

Applicants must schedule an interview appointment or submit an interview waiver application during this 365-day period.
