Passport/Visa Collection Locations

If your visa application is approved, your passport and visa will be returned to the delivery address indicated on your profile or at the selected pick-up location.

You may choose to have your documents delivered by one of the two options described below.

You will receive a notification via e-mail and SMS as soon as your passport is ready for collection or in the process of being delivered to you.

Pick-up from PPS office

If you select this delivery option, the passport can be collected free of charge from PPS office located at 1183 Budapest, Nefelejcs utca 1-3. Please click here for directions to the location.

You will be notified via email and SMS once the passport is ready for pick-up from the respective location.

PPS will store your passport for a period of 15 calendar days. After that the passport will be returned to the Embassy.

Important: You are required to present a photo ID written with Latin characters, when collecting the passport. If somebody else (family member or third party) will pick-up the passport on your behalf, that person will have to present the appointment confirmation letter of your visa interview, or in case of interview waiver, the interview waiver confirmation letter and a valid photo ID.

 Premium Home Delivery with DHL

With this delivery option, your documents will be returned to your home/office using DHL services.There is an additional fee to be paid for this service, in the amount of 4690 HUF. This premium fee is paid at the time of scheduling the visa interview.

The delivery timeline is 1 - 2 business days. During the delivery process, DHL will make two delivery attempts. If unsuccessful, the passport will be returned to  PPS pickup location - 1183 Budapest, Nefelejcs utca 1-3 - and stored  for 10 calendar days. During this time period, you will be able to collect the passport free of charge from the respective location. Should you not collect it during this time period, the passport will be returned to the US Embassy.


In the event that an applicant’s MRV Visa is refused, applicants are entitled to a refund of the Premium Service (Home Delivery) fee as purchased by Credit/Debit Card on the website only. Within 5 business days of the Visa refusal, applicants must send an email to along with their DS-160 number. Once received, GTS will review the refund request and once validated GTS will issue a refund to the applicant’s card on file within 10 business days. Applicants who applied via a group payment and who were denied a Visa are also entitled to a refund by following the above steps. Refunds are not permitted under any other circumstances. 

Change Delivery Options

You may change your preferred document delivery address online or through the call center until midnight before the day of your interview appointment. There is no cost to change your delivery preferences.

We strongly advise you not to change the pickup location after the time limit. Any changes to your desired pickup location after this time limit will lead to a delay in your passport delivery.

Check the Status of Your Visa

You can check the status of your application any time at this website: Please wait at least three business days following your visa interview to check on the status of your application. The system may not have updated the status of your application prior to that time, and thus the message you receive may not reflect the actual status of your application.

Instant: Enter your passport number below to check on the status.



If your status shows "origination scan", it means your passport has left the Embassy or Consulate is on its way to the delivery location you have chosen. It is however not available yet.

When the status shows "ready for pick up", it means that the courier is about to deliver your passport at the address indicated during the appointment scheduling process, or your passport is ready for pickup at the Pickup location.

The Embassy or the Consulate cannot help you regarding the status of your passport delivery. Please do not contact the Embassy or Consulate regarding the status of your passport delivery.

Email: Send an e-mail to and in the subject and/or body enter a valid passport number exactly as it was entered at the time the appointment was scheduled. Do not include any additional text. You will receive an automatic response with the status.
