Schedule My Appointment

Overview

The National Visa Center (NVC) schedules all immigrant visa appointments, with the exception of K visas. Once the NVC finishes processing a case, the NVC will work with the immigrant visa unit at the local consular section to schedule an appointment.  As soon as an appointment is scheduled, the NVC will forward the case to the consular section. The NVC will also send the petitioner and/or the authorized agent an interview appointment letter.  K visa applicants, and all immigrant visa applicants who missed their appointments scheduled by NVC or have been asked by the local consular section to schedule 221G follow up appointment can schedule their interview appointments per the instructions sent by the local consular section through our authorized visa application service website. These applicants should not schedule their appointments until they have received an "Immigrant Visa Instructions" email from the local consular section that they must schedule an appointment ‘Online’.

Some visa categories are subject to numerical limitations. NVC will not schedule any cases that their priority dates are not current. Please refer to the Visa Bulletin for more information on visa availability.

Schedule My Appointment

To schedule an appointment for immigrant visas only after you have received the "Immigrant Visa Instructions" email from the local consular section, visit this page.

An applicant who has previously registered for a non-immigrant visa or prior immigrant visa application should ensure that his or her contact information, passport number, and document pick-up location are accurate. In addition, visa type should be listed as “Immigrant Visa.” Failure to register or to update your contact information and document pick-up location prior to your visa interview will result in serious delays processing and delivering your paperwork and/or visa. If you encounter problems during the registration process, please email support-bangladesh@ustraveldocs.com. You will be informed by email when your passport and visa packet are ready for pick-up.

What to expect at the Interview

Information on documents you should bring to the immigrant visa interview is available at Immigrant Visa Instructions.  Be truthful during the interview. Misleading or untruthful statements could result in a refusal and even permanent visa ineligibility. If you choose to present documents during your interview, make sure that they are truthful and legitimate.

All immigrant visa applicants, including children, must appear at the consular section for an interview. On your interview date, you must arrive no more than fifteen minutes before your scheduled appointment time. There are no storage facilities. Therefore, if you arrive with any prohibited items, you might be turned away and asked to make a new appointment.  In order to make the process as quick as possible, applicants should only carry their appointment letters, passports and supporting documents for their visa interview. Please read about security restrictions at the consular section that describe what you can and cannot bring with you to your interview.
