Overview

Immigrant visa fees worldwide are established in U.S. dollars (USD). The Financial Management Centre at the U.S. Embassy in Canberra determines an official exchange rate for payments made in Australian dollars. All fees may be subject to change without notice and are non-refundable.

The fees listed on this page cannot be paid via this website. These fees can only be paid at a U.S. Consulate in conjunction with filing a petition or attending a visa interview at the Consulate. The current schedule of Immigrant Visa fees is as follows and subject to change:

Although fees are listed in U.S. and Australian dollars, please refer to the below chart for acceptable forms of payment and currency.

  • Do not calculate your own exchange rate. Do not round the amount up or down.
  • Check ALL information is correct before sending to our office, incorrect spelling or amounts will be rejected.
  • We do not accept US Dollar checks, Personal or Company checks.
  • Checks must be payable to “U.S. Consulate General” or “Department of State” NO variations.
  • Alterations, incorrect or multiple checks cannot be processed.
  • Only method of payment via mail.

  • Processed in U.S. dollars ONLY. The amount charged to your credit card will reflect the bank’s exchange rate and, possibly, a transaction fee.
  • In person only - we are unable to accept credit card details via post/phone.
  • We accept - Visa/Debit, Mastercard/Debit, American Express. The back of the card MUST be signed. You MUST be the card holder, we will check your ID.
