Cases processed through NVC

NVC notifies the applicant that an interview has been scheduled. Applicants who were notified of their appointment through NVC do not need to schedule an appointment through the U.S. Embassy. Please follow the interview preparation information and attend your interview on the appointment date provided by NVC.

If a case has been current for over three months and no visa appointment letter has been received, contact the NVC for a status update at:

31 Rochester Avenue, Suite 200
Portsmouth, New Hampshire 03801-2909

You must bring a printed copy of your appointment letter, your current passport and all old passports to the visa interview. You must have completed your medical exam before your interview. Applications without all of these items will not be accepted.

Only applicants with appointments will be admitted into the U.S. Embassy. Due to space constraints we are unable to allow third parties, including friends, employees, or attorneys, to accompany applicants to interviews. Minor children(under 16 years of age) may be accompanied by a guardian adult, and disabled applicants needing assistance may bring an escort. Petitioners of family-based IV applicants may attend the interview but are not required to do so.

Beneficiaries are strongly advised not to finalize travel arrangements, dispose of their property, or give up their jobs until after they have been issued visas. Quitting a job, leaving school, selling property and/or closing bank accounts prior to visa issuance may be risky, as in certain cases visa issuance may be delayed for some time.

Your Appointment

All immigrant visa applicants are seen by appointment only.  You may enter the U.S. Embassy 15 minutes prior to your scheduled interview time.  It is your responsibility to come fully prepared with all necessary documents in hand.  Do not bring electronic or hazardous items.  You and your belongings are subject to an airport style security screening.  At your interview, you will be sworn in as to the truth of your application.  If you are found eligible for a visa at the time of your interview, your visa will be delivered by courier.  Visa issuance is not guaranteed.  DO NOT MAKE TRAVEL ARRANGEMENTS UNTIL YOU HAVE YOUR VISA IN HAND.
