If your visa application is approved, your passport will be sent as a registered letter to the Posti Office location selected during the appointment scheduling process. When picking-up the passport from the Post office you will be required to show a photo ID.

You will be notified via e-mail and SMS (if Finnish phone number) as soon as the passport is ready for delivery.

If somebody else wants to pick-up the passport on your behalf, that person will have to present a photo ID and a power of attorney to the Post Office. The power of attorney can be downloaded from here.

You must collect your passport within 14 calendar days from the Post office. After that, the passport will be returned to the Embassy/Consulate.

Change Delivery Options

You may change your preferred document delivery address online or through the call center until midnight before the day of your interview appointment. There is no cost to change your delivery preferences.

We strongly advise you not to change the pickup location after the time limit. Any changes to your desired pickup location after this time limit will lead to a delay in your passport delivery.

Check the Status of Your Visa

You can check the status of your application any time at this website: Please wait at least three business days following your visa interview to check on the status of your application. The system may not have updated the status of your application prior to that time, and thus the message you receive may not reflect the actual status of your application.

Passport Tracking Options

For your convenience, you have several options to choose from to track the location of your passport.

If the status shows "Passport has been received from the Consular Section and is currently being processed for delivery", it means your passport was released by Embassy or Consulate and is on its way to the sorting facilities.

When the status shows "Out for Delivery" it means the passport is ready for pick-up from the Itella Post office location.

Email: Send an e-mail to and in the subject and/or body enter a valid passport number exactly as it was entered at the time the appointment was scheduled. Do not include any additional text. You will receive an automatic response with the status.
