Questions and Answers

Q: Do children need a visa?
A: All travelers, including children, need a visa to travel to the United States or must qualify to travel without a visa through a special program, such as the Visa Waiver Program.

Q: Do children pay the same application fee as adults?
A: Yes, they do.

Q: Do children need to schedule an interview appointment?

A: Applicants under age 14 do not need to come for an interview if traveling with a parent, but the parent must provide the family book. Like all applicants, these minors must each have valid passports, photos taken within the past 6 months, and their own DS-160 applications. However, there is no need to make a separate on-line appointment for each of these minors. (Minors age 14 and above must still appear for an interview like all adults.)
