Overview

U.S. government sponsored exchange visitor (J visa) applicants and their dependents are not required to pay application processing fees if participating in a Department of State, a U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), or a Federally funded educational and cultural exchange program which has a program serial number beginning with G-1, G-2, G-3, or G-7 printed on Form DS-2019, Certificate of Eligibility for Exchange Visitor Status. U.S. government sponsored exchange visitor (J visa) applicants and their dependents are also not required to pay applicable issuance fees.

Please follow these steps to arrange an appointment for your visa interview:

  1. Create a profile on this page and complete the necessary information until Step 5 of the process.
  2. Retrieve the UID number located on the top right corner and send an email to any of the U.S. Embassy / Consulates in Germany of your choice: U.S. Consulate General Frankfurt: frankfurtvisainquiries@state.gov, U.S. Embassy Berlin: Berlin-G-program@state.gov or
    U.S. Consulate General Munich: consmunich@state.gov specifying that you qualify for US Government Sponsored Program and the preferred date (with an alternate date) for the interview. You must also provide an electronic pdf copy of the DS-2019 form.
  3. You will be informed of the date and time of your confirmed appointment via email by the Embassy / Consulate.
