Overview

The information below is an overview of the application and interview appointment scheduling process for Summer Work and Travel applicants. The group appointment scheduling is done by authorized agencies, which have SWT Business User profiles approved in advance.

How to Apply

Step 1

Each group member must pay the visa application fee.

Step 2

Each group member must complete the Nonimmigrant Visa Electronic Application (DS-160) form.

Step 3

Each group member must prepare all documents required for J-visa.

Step 4

SWT Business User must schedule an appointment using the online appointment system by clicking on the Schedule Appointment button after logging in.

Before adding members of SWT group please make sure that your students do not have profiles in the system already. If they have you should add them by option: Add Applicant By UID.

Also, if the students have profiles and previous visa applications, please make sure that you insert the barcode from their NEW DS-160 application form.

When you come to “Specify Documentation Delivery” you should choose document pick-up location – city from where you can pick up your documents. All returned documents will be sent to the selected office of TNT courier service.

NOTE: All passports of members of your group will go to the same address.

Step 5

Passports and other required documents for the group are submitted to the Embassy by the SWT agency. This should be done at least one week in advance of the appointment date and after sending an e-mail notification to: j1_sofia@state.gov.

Step 6

Each group member must visit the U.S. Embassy on the date and time of the visa interview.

Step 7

Passports will be delivered to the address chosen previously on the ustraveldocs.com web page.

You may change your preferred document pick-up location though the call center until 11:59 p.m. the day of the interview appointment.

Note: The SWT Business User can perform steps 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 for group members.

A few things to remember:

  • Please remember that all passports of a group scheduled together will be delivered to this same location/address
  • Please DO NOT change any data in applicant’s profile after the date of interview. (for example to change passports pick up location)
  • You may change your preferred document pick-up location online or through the call center until 11:59 p.m. the day of the interview.

  • If you want to reschedule a member of your group choose “CANCEL” link next to the appointment date of that person. Appointments of the rest of the applicants in this group will stay the same.
  • DO NOT choose “Reschedule” option if you want to reschedule just one person (otherwise you will cancel the whole group)
  • To reschedule all applicants scheduled at one time please use option “Reschedule”.
  • When you see below information it means that you cannot reschedule appointment for this applicant.

    Remember: Applicants are limited to the number of times they can reschedule their appointments. Please plan accordingly so that you are not required to pay another visa application fee. Visa application fees are nonrefundable.
